How to Build the Perfect Paver Patio

2. Build a strong base
A solid patio starts with a solid foundation. We add a 4-inch layer of stabilized base material, then compact it until it’s rock-solid. This is what keeps your patio from sinking or shifting later.
3. Grade sand for elevation
Next comes a layer of sand, carefully graded to the right slope so water drains away instead of pooling on your patio.
4. Set the pavers
We place 2-inch thick pavers (pressed to an impressive 8,500 psi) in your chosen pattern. Each one is set with precision to keep the lines straight and the spacing perfect.
5. Lock the edges
Concrete edging around the perimeter holds everything in place, so your pavers stay snug and secure over time.
6. Compact pavers so pavers can settle into place
A quick pass with a compactor presses the pavers down into the sand, helping them settle evenly.
7. Seal the Joints
Finally, we sweep polymeric sand into the joints. This locks the pavers together, keeps weeds out, and helps prevent shifting.
